Card Weaving

Learn one of the oldest and simplest forms of weaving.  Cards with holes in them! These cards, like hand spindles have been found all over the world in many cultures, made from many natural resources. They are traditionally used in making bands from narrow ribbons to belts. You are only limited by your imagination!

Supplies to bring to class:
scissors, notebook, paper, pencil, graph paper (4squares/inch) and colored pencils, warping board or set of warping pegs, Weaving cards and shuttle ***SEE BELOW
Inkle Loom:  IF you have an inkle loom, please bring it! If you don't have an inkle loom, another good choice is a small rigid heddle loom.  If you have neither, that is ok too!

While my favorite yarn to use for card weaving and inkle loom weaving is 5/2 coned cotton, I am asking you to bring 3/2 cotton or a sport weight cotton for your first project.   This is because there is directionality in the pattern that you can create by virtue of how you thread your cards.  This is easier to see and understand when using the larger yarn, so that you can learn to use this direction in your pattern designs....
You will need 4 colors:  A very dark color, a very light color, and two other colors you like.

This is a FULL DAY class
